Our client had a busy office space in Glasgow where they ran their successful businesses from. They had contacted us to look at a large storage cupboard within their office which had been neglected, and over time had turned into an unused space that employees avoided, and where office clutter had accumulated. As our clients business had grown, it was vital for them to have more storage and to create a space that staff could use on a regular basis and that would meet the demands of the business. The space wasn’t being used to its full potential so we knew that we could help them reclaim and maximise the space through our process of decluttering and organising.
THE
SOLUTION
As is always the case before we start any project, we carried out an in-person consultation where we reviewed the space, identifying key problem areas and taking measurements to allow us to source specific storage solutions. We also made sure we understood our client’s needs and how they wanted the storage cupboard to be used once we had completed the job. From here, we had the information we needed to ensure we were maximising all available surfaces, that the layout made sense and importantly, that we left empty space to allow our client to grow.
On arrival to the project, we removed and then categorised everything that was in the cupboard at which point, our client joined us to methodically work through the items deciding which items to keep, get rid of or donate. During this process, the client rediscovered items which he could use or repurpose for his current business activities as well as items he knew were no longer of use to him and could be disposed of – this immediately created more space. Once the declutter was complete we moved onto the reorganisation of the cupboard with the items that remained, implementing our storage solutions, and perfecting the layout of the cupboard using the knowledge we had from our client’s brief.
Our process transformed the cupboard. Decluttering allowed our client to dispose of excess items and gave them back valuable surface area whilst our storage methods made smart use of the space and ensured there was room left over for our client to grow. We received positive feedback from our client and his employees who can now utilise the space on a regular basis.
